Comprehensive Scoliosis Care
for Children and Adults

The ScoliSMART Approach
Length 3:37

At ScoliSMART Clinics, we offer the most comprehensive scoliosis treatment program ever created — available to both children (6-17) and adults (18+) with idiopathic scoliosis. We strive to treat the whole scoliosis condition, not just the curve. For children, this means getting back to being a kid — not a condition. For adults, this means addressing the underlying causes of chronic scoliosis pain.

Get Information About the ScoliSMART Approach

Scoliosis Develops when your brain fails to tell your muscles to correct the spine's posture. A new clinical study found ScoliSMART's treatment (re-training the automatic postural control centers in the brain) successfully stops progression and minimizes curves.

In our study, we saw that 97.3% of curves less than 50 degrees never required surgery, and 9 in 10 curves stabilized or improved!

The infographic below includes more results from the study we conducted, including information about the Risser Scale, scoliosis stage of intervention and how ScoliSMART programs work.

The Earlier the Better

Stage of intervention

Success rate

Early stage

·       Curves: < 30°

·       Risser: 0-2

100%

Likely to progress

·       Curves: 30-49°

·       Risser: 0-3

92%

Above surgical threshold

·       Curves: 50°+

50%

What’s the Risser Scale?

Measures skeletal maturity in 5 stages:

·       1—Pre-puberty or early puberty

·       2—Before or during growth spurt

·       3—Slowed growth

·       4—Nearly ceased growth

·       5—Skeletal maturity

How ScoliSMART Works

1.     Specialized exercises trigger an automatic response in the body

2.     New communication paths form between brain and muscles

3.     Nutritional support boosts neurotransmitters, making treatment more effective

4.     Repeated involuntary exercises become muscle memory

5.     Spine learns to control (and reduce) its curvature

Comparing Results

BrAIST study: 72% success rate with 27% drop out rate

ScoliSMART study: 97.3% success rate with only 13% drop out rate

Patient Follow-Ups

BrAIST intended 4 year follow-up, stopped data collection after only 2 years

ScoliSMART average 2.5 year follow-up to skeletal maturity

Understanding Power Analysis

Power analysis is conducted to account for smaller sample sizes. Due to the small sample size in our study (60 patients), we utilized a well accepted statistical methodology called a "power analysis" where the standard margin of error is magnified to exclude "outlier" data that may skew the results. This is a common practice used in many studies with smaller sample sizes.
