Scoliosis cannot be fully treated in only 5-10 days of treatment, so the home rehabilitation program following the ScoliSMART BootCamp program is a critical part of any patient’s long-term success. Each patient is provided a complete home rehab program with instructions at the end of treatment program, but the support doesn’t end there.
After the initial boot camp most patients will need to be re-evaluated by their ScoliSMART doctor following 3 to 6 months of Home training to determine the effectiveness of their home care and to make adjustments to their training equipment.
The purpose of camp is to decrease curve stiffness, and properly train for home care. The gains made in camp are temporary, but may become permanent following 6 months following the required home care program.
Long-term scoliosis correction and quality-of-life benefits using the SocliSMART approach have been documented in case studies up to 9 years following treatment.
ScoliSMART exercises should be continued until your child has completed their growth. Once they are done growing they can either discontinue their home care or decide to reduce the frequency or use only as needed for stiffness or pain.
Creating a daily routine that best fits your child’s schedule, daily exercise logs to track performance, and a system of regular rewards for reaching goals will help them stay focused.
Chiropractic care is generally unnecessary following a 5 or 10 day ScoliSMART program and will not have any effect on the scoliosis measurements.
ScoliSMART doctors have spent almost two decades developing the most comprehensive approach for treating scoliosis that extend far past just chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, or brace treatment.
In some cases it is difficult to prevent worsening during periods of rapid growth, however the amount of measurement increase is most often minimilized by performing their home care training.
